Ziptrak Blind FAQ

Yes, Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds are trusted by thousands of Australian homes and businesses to provide an enjoyable outdoor living space. The strong and robust system is commonly installed throughout coastal regions and locations prone to high winds. If you are considering the wind speed, or wind loading for Ziptrak®, please take note of the following information:

In windy conditions, blinds should be left down and locked, or fully retracted – half way is the most vulnerable position. During severe weather events, your blinds should be fully retracted.

You may find Ziptrak® spring-balanced blinds are a little tricky to operate during windy conditions due to the pressure of the wind on the blind material. Use your hand to push against the blind material to reduce this pressure and then operate the blind.

Care must be taken when operating motorised Ziptrak® Blinds in windy conditions. They must be supervised whilst raising and lowering at all times.

Installation is crucial to determining the performance of your blind in wind.

Installation times can vary based on your specific requirements and our current schedule. However, we pride ourselves on quick turnarounds without compromising on quality.

Yes. Outdoor Blinds are designed to cover openings up to a maximum width of 6 metres. However, if your opening exceeds this recommendation, Ziptrak® Blinds offer two different options to accommodate larger spaces:

1) A permanent post
2) A Ziptrak® removable post

These options allow you to have two or more Ziptrak® Blinds next to one another with a separating post. Either post can be provided in both steel or aluminium and powder coated to match the other Ziptrak® hardware (side tracks, pelmet, and bottom bar). The Ziptrak® removable post can be uninstalled within 60 seconds and offers a completely open span once removed.

Due to the variety of mounting options accessible, Outdoor Blinds can adapt to various surfaces, ensuring both performance and durability.

The disparity in its system operation and longevity positions Ziptrak® as the premier brand of Outdoor Blinds. It’s imperative for customers to verify if they are purchasing a genuine Ziptrak® system.

Thanks to their unique centre lock release mechanism, Ziptrak® Blinds are the sole blinds that permit simultaneous unlocking of both left and right locks from the centre, as well as locking and unlocking the blind from both inside and outside locations.

Lastly, distinct from its competitors, Ziptrak® Outdoor blinds employ an exclusive method for attaching the blind material to the vertical tracks. This guarantees a secure grip, even with slight movements of the house and wind pressure on the fabric. The Ziptrak® system ensures the absence of rattling noises in the wind.

Generally, most councils do not require residents to apply for approval for the installation of Outdoor Blinds. However, seek independent advice specific to your given council and requirements. Buildings in a community group or managed by strata may have restrictions that you should consider before deciding to install Outdoor Blinds.

At Just Quality, we pride ourselves on using premium fibreglass fabric for our Ziptrak® Blinds. This sets us apart from other retailers by guaranteeing enhanced functionality and an extended functional lifespan. Additionally, our fabric contains an antimicrobial agent to prevent the growth of germs, making it anti-mould and mildew resistant.

Clear or tinted durable PVC fabric is also available.

A pelmet is a framework mounted over the top tube of the blind to conceal and protect the blind material and internal components. Ziptrak® offers a fully enclosed pelmet, designed to protect the blind for longevity and provide seamless visual integration with your decor.

The pelmet is made from aluminium or steel and is available in a wide range of standard Colorbond® colours or with the option to totally customise the colour to your specifications. Cast aluminium pelmet end plates are utilised for a heavy-duty, long-lasting system. You don’t need to have a pelmet protecting your blind, although it is highly recommended, especially if the blind will be mounted in an unprotected location.

Yes. The bottom bar securely locks into position with two locks positioned at the bottom left and bottom right, ensuring the blind remains fully down and stable even during high winds.

However, it’s important to note that these locks are not intended for use as a security measure. The blind system should not be relied upon as a barrier for babies or children. Additionally, please be aware that the centre-lock-release mechanism is not child-proof.

The cost of Ziptrak® blinds may vary based on various features such as the size of the opening to cover, the fabric selection, and the choice between manual or motorised options. We provide a free assessment to better assist you in finding the perfect blind that matches your budget.

Our blinds can be integrated with smart home systems. While not all Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds offer this capability, at Just Quality, we use high-quality European motors for our Smart Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds. This allows us to seamlessly integrate them with smart home systems like Alexa and Google Home.

We offer a 15-year warranty on our Outdoor Blinds, covering any defects in materials and workmanship.
